Spring Term – Weekly Update – Week 04

Spring Term – Weekly Update – Week 04

I managed to get a lot of feedback from my committee, advisor, as well as other people I found on campus.  Feedback and opinions of all people who tried my application was considered and worked into updates that I made later in the week.  My meeting with Dave went well but I’m not sure if what we discussed was necessarily worth holding off on contacting prospect participants sooner.  I was a bit uncertain to what we would discuss at the meeting so I wanted to make sure that I considered whatever I learn from the meeting before reaching out to people.  Despite that being the case, Dave told me that he has 30+ people in his contact list he can send my invite to and before we finished the meeting he gave me a variety of ways that I could potentially reach out to piano instructors in the Philadelphia area.  By the end of week four I did not hear back from anyone interested in participating in my research.  I must work at least ten times harder in week 05 to make sure that I have finalized who participants will be so that I can get started with the iterative playtesting as soon as possible.  Although, I am extremely pressed on time I believe if I finalize my expert panel before the end of week 05, I can integrate the introduction meeting and the first iterative-playtest session into one meeting.  Over the course of this last week I have gained a better understanding of what the contribution of my project will be and because of this I have started implementing core aspects of the application.  Therefore, I believe this is good reasoning to why the introduction meeting that I have planned for my participants will not only cover me explaining to my panel the basics of the research that is being conducted but I will also explain to them the goals of my application and show them the work that I’ve done so far.  Taking in their feedback, I can start the following week by integrating information that I gathered during the first meeting to update the application, as I prepare things for the following playtest session.  In preparation for a more thorough first meeting, I’ve updated the participant form that I will be sending out to piano instructors who’ve agreed to participate in my study.
